The producer of a comedy film to be shot and set in Omagh over the next month says he wants to open the Co Tyrone town up to more film production companies.
Eddie McCaffrey is a producer for The Spin, which begins filming in Omagh and the surrounding area this weekend.
A callout has been made for extras who may want to appear in the feature film, which sees two hapless record store owners travel the length of Ireland in order to save their business.

Eddie says he hopes that the shooting of the film in Co Tyrone will help to open it up as a destination that film crews will see as attractive.
“We’re keen to open up Omagh and Tyrone as a place for filming. We could have set this film anywhere, but we decided to set it in Omagh,” Eddie told Belfast Live.
“Omagh has a reputation that none of us like understandably, given what happened 25 years ago and even earlier this year with the shooting of a police officer.
“We want to show another side to the place, this is a simple comedic, music led story and we want to show off what Omagh has and what Tyrone has in general.
“We think that if we can do that maybe we can make people think differently of Omagh, but also show off what we have here so that other film production companies might look at it and think they can come here as well.
“There are some beautiful places here and hopefully we can convince them that this is somewhere they can go and film too.”
Eddie adds the premise of The Spin is based heavily around Omagh’s musical heritage, and that the crew is ready for the month long shoot.
“There’s a heavy music influence to the whole thing in the sense that Omagh has this musical heritage.
“We are ready to rock and roll, we start shooting this Sunday September 2nd and we run until the end of the month.
“We’re shooting the whole thing in that time, all around Omagh in the Sperrin mountains because a lot of the film is set when the two guys get lost.
“They are in the middle of nowhere, and we have got plenty of middle of nowhere places around Omagh for that.”
