Omagh assault leaves man in his 30s fighting for his life

A man has been left fighting for his life after a serious assault near Omagh on Monday evening.

The man, aged in his 30s, was reported to have been walking along the Crotty Road area in the Tattyreagh area of Co Tyrone when he was attacked.

Police say the man was taken to hospital with a serious head injury following the assault.

He remains in hospital with police describing his injuries as ‘life threatening’.

The assault is reported to have taken place at around 8.50pm on Monday, with police appealing for anyone who may have been nearby at the time.

“Detectives are appealing for information following a report of a serious assault which occurred at the Crotty Road area of Omagh on Monday 11 th April,” a police spokesperson said.

“Shortly before 8:50pm, it was reported to police that a man in his 30s was walking along the Crotty Road when he was assaulted. The man was taken to hospital with a serious head injury, which is described as being life threatening.

“Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone with any information or who saw anything in the area at the time of the incident, to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference number 1861 11/04/22.
